AGU Chapman Conference: The Great Plume Debate

Logistics:

Dates: 28th August – 1st September, 2005
Location: Ben Nevis Hotel, Fort William, Scotland
Size: 100 participants

Rum

Will be run before the conference, August 22nd - 26th, 2005. Leader: Henry Emeleus (Univ. Durham)

Will involve staggeringly impressive, world-class layered intrusion, including picrite dikes.

Mull

Will be run after the conference, in parallel with the Skye trip, September 2nd-6th, 2005. Leader: Godfrey Fitton (Univ. Edinburgh)

Will visit Precambrian basement, Devonian granite pluton, central volcano complex, classic ring dyke, and layered intrusion.

Skye

Will be run after conference, in parallel with the Mull trip, September 2nd-6th, 2005. Leader: Brian Bell (Univ. Glasgow)

Will visit layered intrusion, central volcano complex, basement rocks.
