Other suggestions & remarks:

  1. Perhaps we can have a front cover image and a back cover image both. The photos represent three classic hotspots (Hawaii, Iceland, Easter Island), so more than one can also be used, in combination, as small images on the back cover. (Hetu Sheth, 21/12/04)
  2. a shot of the Iceland rift for the cover of P-cubed, maybe with a small version of the Penrose logo in the corner. (Jim Natland, 21/12/04)
  3. The diagram from Anderson's chapter "Scoring hotspots: the plume & plate paradigms" would be a good choice modified in the following ways--
    a) Draw a line more clearly separating the two interior Earth models
    b) Scrupulously edit the diagram for latter-day, up-to-the-minute accuracy and freedom from any aspect of diagrammatic presentation that would even hint at partisanship.
    c) Very carefully re-label some of the structures in the diagram, perhaps providing synonyms for immediate comprehensibility even for the barely informed.
    d) Include, in the empty page corners, small pictures of the two or three major contributors of the two hypotheses, e.g., Wilson and Morgan on one side and whomever you think deserves primary credit for the top down plate model on the other--we are in fact presenting some considerable history. (Bill Glen, 28/12/04)
  4. If my opinion can do any thing, the Plume model / Plate model is by far the one I prefer. (Valerie Clouard, 30/12/04)
  5. The two types of plate models from Anderson is the one I prefer. (Françoise Chalot-Prat, 31/12/04)
  6. Two images contributed. "Otherwise, I like Don Anderson's Earth cross-section cartoon." (Greg McHone, 31/12/04)
  7. The first image of the second row (lava droplets from Kilauea) could be nice once rotated upside down...try it! (Sergio Rocchi, 4/1/05)
  8. As a cartoon, I find Don's one fine. I propose a satellite image from Hoggar (above). (Jean-Paul Liégeois, 4/1/05)
